Artist Marguerite Piard Reimagines Nude Form in New Exhibit
info@hypebae.com (Hypebae) Thu, 14 Aug 2025 HypebaeFrench painter Marguerite Piard heads to Brussels for a solo art exhibition.
Now on view, Piard's latest work, "Les Veilleuses," reimagines what most consider nude art. The collection, whose name translates to "the night lights," features nude works but through a different lens. Here, the French artist paints her loved ones in the nude and explores "desire without sexualization," the show notes read. The result is a bare, vulnerable and empathetic interpretation of nudity.
The notes continue, "In her studio, Marguerite Piard revives the memory of their presence at her side, like 'little lights on which to rely to face the night, to grow up, to no longer be afraid.'"
From family to friends and lovers, each figure represents secrets held and light shining over the artist's darkest moments. "This light, dancing under the hours spent caring for each other,” is reflected through the intimate staging of "their bodies in abstract settings; passing through half-open shutters, wondering if it will indeed let the darkness out."
View Les Veilleuses until September 14, 2025.
