Nike has released its annual SNKRS report looking back on a year of footwear releases, and 2025's most popular drops all had one thing in common: basketball. It's no secret that Nike rules the court when it comes to sneakers. Signature styles for some of the sport's legendary ballers all feature that trademark Swoosh, from Air Jordans to KDs. Last year, basketball had the culture on lock with celebrity courtside appearances, fairytale playoff runs and all the fashion you can imagine. Apparently, basketball fever took over the shoe stores, too.
Six pairs of Air Jordans make the list, taking the No. 1 spot with four pairs landing in the top five. Despite it being the shoe's 40th anniversary last year, the iconic AJ1 did not make the cut. Instead, first place goes to the AJ11 "Gamma," dropping in December to sneak a buzzer-beater win just at the end of the year.
Whilst Jordans stand the test of time, three pairs of Kobe Protro sneakers are included, with the abstract, colorful "What The" Kobe 8 Protro falling at No. 4 on the list. "Galaxy" Air Foamposites bring back memories of 2012, and a Jumpman Jack collaboration between Jordan and Travis Scott just made it at No. 10.
Six pairs on the list are re-releases, with the 2010s slowly becoming one of the industry's favorite decades to draw from. Nike has been dealing out healthy doses of nostalgia for a while now, but perhaps this stat will offer a taste of what's to come from the brand in 2026.
In other news, A new Swarovski x Air Jordan 1 collaboration is set to hit shelves this spring.
