Mary Earps Comes Out in Her New Autobiography

Footballer Mary Earps' autobiography All In: Football, Life and Learning to be Unapologetically Me is set to hit shelves on November 6, and the press tour has revealed a myriad of new details on the England legend's career and life. The pressures of being England's No. 1, her sudden retirement from the national team and her struggles with mental health and body image have all been laid bare in the media, but one of the biggest talking points was her openly speaking about her sexuality for the first time ever.

In an interview with the BBC, Earps shared that she was happily in a relationship with a woman, wanting to reveal that part of her life on her own terms before the book's release. It's one of the only times she's been open about how she spends her time off the pitch, but as All In's publication date comes around, even more slices of Earps' life are set to be revealed. She has always been a somewhat elusive yet incredibly outspoken character in the sport, and now she's chosen to let the world in, but on her own terms and in her own way.

Despite the drama that has taken place off the back of her press tour, the decision to come out at 32 is one that shouldn't fly under the radar. Women's football is known for being far more inclusive than the men's game, but even though the LGBTQ+ community is well represented in the sport, being that vulnerable when the world is watching takes an incredible amount of courage.

Earps' autobiography will be available to purchase globally at major book retailers starting November 6.

In other news, Nike's latest soccer collection is all about girl power.
