Rising London-based label Mahila just launched its first-ever short film, teaming up with London-based director Jasmina Wood. Capturing a chaotic night out with the girls, the new film is titled "What If This Was Your Last Summer," and explores themes of freedom, femininity and fleeting youth.

Showcasing the Mahila girls running through the streets like it's their last night out, the film also shows another narrative quietly unfolding behind the scenes. Capturing the opposite end of the spectrum, the film shows a girl sitting at home doomscrolling and crying as she watches the world end.

"I made this film because for years I've felt paralysed by social media, frozen by the pressures of society on me as a woman and a never-ending scroll. Feeling that the world is falling apart, I wondered, What's the point in anything?," explains Wood.

"I collaborated with the Mahila girls because watching them on social media always made me think, wow, these girls are having so much fun. They’ve built a space where women can own their energy, sexiness and freedom. What If This Was Your Last Summer is a love letter to nights that blur together, to the girls who live like nothing can touch them. Stop watching other people live their lives and go and live yours," she continues.

The film acts as a reminder to celebrate our freedom and live our lives, knowing that so many other people around the world don't have that ability.
