Balenciaga Pays Homage to Its Roots With New Fragrance Collection

Drawing inspiration from "Le Dix," Balenciaga's first-ever perfume created in 1947, the brand has unveiled a collection of 10 fragrances in homage to the original scent. The new collection aims to honor the legacy of the brand while simultaneously shaping its future.

Balenciaga is attempting to merge its roots with its current ethos by referencing the original perfume created by Cristóbal Balenciaga for the creation of the brand new fragrance line. Similarly to the 1947 bottle, the new perfumes feature a glass sphere cap and a hand-tied ribbon. The packaging also makes use of the original typeface, which the brand calls "a metaphor for the fusion of past and present."

The 10 scents are said to be a juxtaposition of traditional French parfumerie and modern-day innovation. "An olfactive study in duality — where heritage techniques meet high-tech olfactive signatures," the brand says in a press release. While the fragrance collection includes a reconstruction of the original "Le Dix," there are also nine new additions: "Cristóbal," "Getaria," Incense Perfumum," "No Comment," "Muscara," "100%," "To Be Confirmed," "Extra" and "Twenty Four Seven.

The perfumes retail for $320 USD each and are available for purchase on the brand's website.
