Nike's New Campaign Just Reimagined Its Signature Slogan

Nike just launched its latest campaign with a slogan swapover, introducing the brand to a new generation. The infamous "Just Do It" tagline is changed to "Why Do It?" in a move to connect with young athletes and reframe success as a choice, encouraging them to create their own next chapter.

Nike first launched "Just Do It" in 1988, where it was posed as a challenge to athletes to keep moving forward, even when it was hard. The reintroduced tagline now wants to reframe greatness as a choice and not an outcome. "With 'Why Do It?,' we're igniting that spark for a new generation, daring them to step forward with courage, trust in their own potential and discover the greatness that unfolds the moment they decide to begin," says Nicole Graham, EVP & Chief Marketing Officer.

The campaign film features a range of global athletes who showcase modern ambition and the raw, unfiltered side of sports. Included are Carlos Alcaraz, Caitlin Clark, LeBron James, Qinwen Zheng and more. The film speaks to a generation where taking the leap can feel more daunting than ever and so the most important choice is to simply begin. It also reminds athletes that trying still counts and failing is, of course, part of the process. Women's basketball star Caitlin Clark says, "Every time you step on the court and compete, you have a chance to be great." All from different sports, backgrounds and levels, the Nike athletes featured represent this ethos and have successfully encouraged us to find our 'why' too.
