The Best of Cats and Fashion: From LV to Loewe
info@hypebae.com (Hypebae) Thu, 07 Aug 2025 HypebaeThe year is 2017, and cats are trending everywhere. From Miu Miu's fragrance campaign to Loewe and Louis Vuitton's fashion collections, felines were the cherry on top of everything luxury. In celebration of International Cat Day, we've compiled our favorite moments with furry friends.
One brand that constantly delivers the cutest cat-coded moments -- whether it's a simple cat sweater or literal luxury accessories for our cats, is Gucci. The renowned Italian fashion house has become synonymous with opulence and thankfully, is keeping our babies -- ahem, cats -- in the cutest fashion, too.
Speaking of luxury, brands like GCDS and Balenciaga have released Hello Kitty collaborations that our inner children just can't get enough of. Elsewhere, Acne Studios tapped a controversial trend while trying its hand at the feline-coded fashion trend.
As for our favorite stage of the trend? Cat bags. From Louis Vuitton's Grace Coddington collab to Valentino's Spring/Summer 2025 runway, cat motifs were all over handbags.

Acne Studios
Acne Studios' Fall/Winter 2024 collection featured American musician Yves Tumor and an AI-generated cat tee that surprisingly, didn't divide the internet as AI typically does.
Ashley Williams
London-based designer Ashley Williams released a silk satin cat skirt in 2021 and since then, we've been in love with her whimsy. According to her, this collection almost became furry friend inspired. "A lot of the things are comments on my life, so when I got dogs I started doing dog things or dog prints everywhere. I actually had to stop myself from doing a partridge print for this collection," she told Vogue.
Balenciaga
For the Spring/Summer 2020 season, Balenciaga dropped Hello Kitty bags -- for men. Featuring the Balenciaga name in script above Kitty's large red bow, the bag gave the boys a bold accessory that everyone wanted their hands on. Available in pink, black and white, the bag also featured shoelaces as whiskers offering a fresh take on the nostalgic cartoon.
Coperni
As if the Coperni Swipe handbag wasn't already living in our heads rent-free, the Paris-based house revealed its 2023 Holiday campaign featuring the cutest cats.
GCDS
For its Fall/Winter 2024 showcase at Milan Fashion Week, GCDS debuted a collection with references to (mostly) every girlies favorite: Hello Kitty. The playful collaboration was meant to promote adult play through printed tops, bag charms and more.
Gucci
In 2022, Gucci expanded its lifestyle line to include pet essentials. Captured by photographer Max Siedentopf, literal meowdels posed next to luxury water bowls, with harnesses, collars, covered in the Gucci monogram.
A few years before its cute pet campaign, Gucci brought cats to its 2017 Resort runway in the most cat lady form: on a comfy sweater.
Marc Jacobs
Before felines became a trending topic, Marc Jacobs debuted an alternative take on the cat lady at its Fall/Winter 2016 runway show. Donning the brand's signature sky-high platforms, the label paired the look with a cat-covered trench coat and a deep smoky eye.
Stella McCartney
The epitome of a cat-coded collection, McCartney invited cats to pose front and center for her Pre-Fall 2016 line. Whether you prefer quiet luxury or maximalist pairings of animal prints, the collection featured a range of styles with one element that tied it all together: the cutest kitties.
Valentino
Another vote for the cat bags compilation, Valentino's cat clutch debuted at its Men's Spring/Summer 2025 runway show -- and we ate it up. The show continued Balenciaga's cat bags for men theme, but subverted it with items that are typically feminine -- cue the lace gloves and layered opulent charm bracelets.
