'Love Island: USA' Is Getting a Cast Revamp

After the UK's reign, Love Island: USA is finally a LI fan favorite. This season, however, has led to the removal of two key cast members, Cierra Ortega and Yulissa Escobar, after racist social media posts resurfaced. Their quick removal led to apology videos and rumors of a show revamp by sources close to producers. Here's what they had to say.

"Starting next season, we are going to get some people working on looking way more into the social media presence and the articles, pictures and public things that potential contestants did before trying to get onto the show. We are going to hire more people to dig into people's past and things they did in public and really brush out their social media and old posts to see if anything controversial came out of there."

More specifically, "We will be really digging way more and deeply in each participant's past, and make sure that their 'records' are clean of racist, xenophobic or sexist words or behavior. If there is anything racist, sexist or offensive in there, the person won’t be allowed to be considered as a potential participant on the show. We can’t have any more situations where we deal with racist behavior."

The decision has led to several suggestions from Love Island viewers. "No more influencers," one fan commented. Another added, "Sorry, this is actually sending me. Also, they need to check for red pill bros while they’re at it." One Bachelor fan begged for the hit show to make some changes next. Many, however, are concerned as they share that there's a gender double standard. According to fans, there are other concerning themes amongst male cast members, so the regulation change after issues with women appears misogynistic.
