SHUSHU/TONG Says We're Ok as Long as We're Beautiful
info@hypebae.com (Hypebae) Fri, 17 Oct 2025 HypebaeSHUSHU/TONG remains one of the biggest highlights of Shanghai Fashion Week and for Spring/Summer 2026, the brand absolutely delivered. Taking inspiration from the arts, as it always does, the starting point for this collection was French film director and screenwriter Agnès Varda and her film Cléo From 5 to 7. Centering around the phrase "As long as I'm beautiful, I'm alive," SS26 explores beauty as an inner force and a guiding light.
Characterized through disruptive fabrics and unpredictable combinations, pairing distressed textures and fraying finishes with tweeds, tailoring and shirting, the collection celebrates "marks of imperfection" in a bid to represent Varda's main character, Cléo. Crafted with exposed threads, visible creases and glass beads, the collection aims to showcase "fleeting moments of decadent brilliance," as stated in the brand's press release.
It wouldn't be SHUSHU/TONG without a hint of rebellion and this season, that's showcased through raw-edged bows, coarse metallic florals and semi-sheer dark plaids complete with black lace detailing and "reverse lingerie." Offering a delicate balance of strength and softness, the collection is filled with juxtaposing styles and fabrics.
Elsewhere, SS26 features an ongoing collaboration with YVMIN on this season's accessories, resulting in hand-embroidered chains and lace. The footwear offering features multiple fabrications of the Mary Jane with both pointed and square toes, accompanied by signature handbag silhouettes in new leathers.
