Nike and Tomo Koizumi Drop a Color Changing Sneaker
info@hypebae.com (Hypebae) Tue, 16 Sep 2025 HypebaeTrack competition meets couture drama in Nike's hot new collaboration with Japanese fashion designer Tomo Koizumi. Blending art and athletics, the new team-up offers a powerful femininity with a design edge, and we can't wait to get our hands on it.
As Nike marks the 25th anniversary of the Air Superfly, the collaboration takes the traditional running shoe and reimagines it with a blend of performance and personal style. Inspired by Japanese manga and elite women athletes, the silhouette is a bold embodiment of power and femininity. Koizumi, known for his extravagant ruffles and bold colors, shares, "My vision was to create a distinctive, versatile silhouette that merges running-inspired design, personalization and evocative materials and colors to allow the shoe to take on different personalities depending on how women want to style it that day."
This versatility is on full display in the sleek silhouette. The upper and tongue logo feature a bright material that changes color in shifting light, while the multicolor outsole comprises distinctive green dots mimicking Y2K-era track spike placement. Interchangeable swooshes and multiple lace options allow you to pick your level of drama depending on the day, perfect for those of us who can't commit to one aesthetic.
Bringing the shoe to life, the campaign features Nike athletes Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce three-time Olympic gold medalist sprinter, Masai Russell Olympic gold medalist in the 100-meter hurdles and Arie Aoki an emerging sprinter from Tomo's home country of Japan.
The shoe will be available September 19 in Japan at Dover Street Market, before launching online globally September 20.
