David Koma's Resort 2026 Was Inspired by a 'Mad Men' Rewatch
info@hypebae.com (Hypebae) Thu, 26 Jun 2025 HypebaeDavid Koma just unveiled its Resort 2026 collection, exploring themes of "mid-century hyper-femininity" and duality. Taking inspiration from Koma's recent Mad Men rewatch, the collection tributes the iconic characters of Betty Draper and Megan Calvet. Leaning into their "prim and polished" exterior, the collection aims to look beyond the surface to reveal a world of "restraint and rebellion."
As a result, this season's offering blends lacy lingerie, subtle pastels and powerful silhouettes. Duality is explored through concealment and exposure, merging softness with power and interrogating the "idealized image of womanhood." Flowing fabrics drape while little bow ties appear as a recurring motif, paired with delicate lace, sheer tulle and fluid satin. Later on, the collection evolves to feature cropped styles and cheeky hot pants, transforming from "demure" to "daring."
Continuing the daring theme, the collection includes minidresses with cutouts, revealing hints of skin. Elsewhere, metallic flowers blend femininity with structure, along with metal studs and faux leathers.
