This New Film Celebrates the Evolution of Women's Cricket

Known for her film, Bend It Like Beckham, Chadha's been tapped to promote this summer's upcoming cricket series which features the India Women's team.
Marking the first sports film from Chadha since BILB in 2002, the new release celebrates the evolution of women's cricket and spotlights the cultural unity between the two teams and their loyal fans. Directly drawing from Chadha's previous work, the new three-minute film features a range of England vs India moments, nodding to the British-Indian cricket community. Starring players Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Heather Knight and Lauren Filer and their fans, the film aims to capture the excitement surrounding this momentous tournament.

"I was delighted to be asked to work on this project with England Women. I'm a huge fan of women in sport and I grew up with this tumultuous series as my dad was a HUGE cricket fan, so I was inspired by his love of the game to champion yet another women's sport that’s so important to me," Chadha says in a press release.
"The current England squad has a great energy, and I wish them the best of luck in the upcoming series again India – but India also has a great squad so I'm sure it will be fantastic moment for the game and fans whomever you support! I'll be there watching, and I hope a lot of other fans will be too!" she adds.
