Empath's SS25 Girl Owns the Street
info@hypebae.com (Hypebae) Tue, 13 May 2025 HypebaeIf Empath isn't on your radar yet, it's time to get acquainted. The Los Angeles-based label was founded by Japanese-Singaporean designer Emily Arakawa, whose upbringing in Tokyo shines through every thread and silhouette. For Spring/Summer 2025, the brand introduces "Asphalt Lady," a love letter to spontaneity and the layered identities of modern city girls.
Designed and produced locally in small batches, the brand mixes clean lines and subtle structure with the fluidity of movement -- a reflection of city life itself. Each look feels like a character you might pass on the street -- distinctive, stylish and maybe even a little unpredictable. Her outfit depends on where she's headed, what she's dreaming about and the version of herself she's choosing to show the world that day.
A standout look we love from the launch is the polka dot tank -- a halterneck top in a soft nude tone dotted with playful black polka dots. It's flirty, fun and carries a subtle cool-girl edge. It styles perfectly with the waxy bootcut pant -- a pair of low-rise, burgundy satin trousers, featuring a bootcut silhouette and a delicate flower appliqué that sits just at the waist.
The first drop from "Asphalt Lady" is officially live today on Empath's official website, while drop two lands on June 5. So, keep your eyes peeled for more info.
