Pixar Drops Official Trailer of Buzz Lightyear Origin Movie

UPDATE (October 27, 2021): After confirming the release of Lightyear, Disney's Pixar has finally unveiled the first trailer of the upcoming origin film focused on Toy Story's Buzz Lightyear.

Directed by Angus MacLane, the movie stars Chris Evans as Buzz, succeeding Tim Allen, who voiced the character in the four original titles. The 90-second-long teaser features David Bowie's "Starman" as Buzz flies through the galaxy in his spaceship. At the end of his training, he finally meets his signature green-and-purple suit. He closes the clip with his iconic catchphrase: "To infinity and beyond."

ORIGINAL STORY (December 10, 2020): Disney's Pixar has just announced that an origin movie about Toy Story's Buzz Lightyear is set to premiere in 2022. According to the company, the iconic character will be voiced by Chris Evans.

Titled Lightyear, the film will follow the story of "the young test pilot that became the Space Ranger we all know him to be today." Deadline reports that the co-director of Finding Dory, Angus MacLane, will take the lead on this project. Take a first look at Buzz's new look in the gallery above.

Lightyear will hit theaters on June 17, 2022. Stay tuned while we wait for the official trailer to drop.
