The year is 2008. You're blasting Lily Allen's "Not Fair" through your pink Walkman and gliding down the street in your Heelys and life is good. For many of us who came of age in the early 2000s, the unfiltered honesty and sharp wit of her 2006 debut album, Alright, Still, earned it cult classic status. Thanks to TikTok, her early songs are once again resonating with a new generation. The year is now 2025, and Lily Allen is so back.

The artist released her fifth studio album, West End Girl, on October 24, describing it as her most "vulnerable" work to date, and she wasn't exaggerating. Allen shared that she wrote and recorded all 14 songs over an "intense 10-day period" following the breakdown of her marriage with David Harbour in December 2024, with tracks that detail cheating, finding the mistress and discovering hidden sex toys.

40 years old, and seven years since her last release (No Shame, 2018), Allen has once again turned heartbreak into art, something she's long mastered. Her debut album came after her first major heartbreak, and her sophomore project was written in the aftermath of her first marriage ending. West End Girl is even more raw and unflinchingly honest, with a mature variation of sounds from infectious pop to experimental electronics. The artist has once again proven her knack for making the devastating sound fun and catchy.

Full of jaw-dropping revelations, the project has been hailed as the ultimate breakup album, reminding women everywhere that they shouldn't stay silent. This is one for the history books. To cement her epic comeback, the singer will be performing West End Girl live on a UK tour in March 2026. Tickets go live on November 7, you don't want to sleep on this one.

The tracks were written by Allen in collaboration with her musical director, Blue May. Executive producers Seb Chew and Kito also helped shape the record, while the album artwork was created by painter Nieves González. With early 2010s favorites like Rizzle Kicks, Hilary Duff and Kylie Minogue recently stepping back into the spotlight, this wave of musical nostalgia feels perfectly timed, and Lily Allen's return is the cherry on top. Our playlists are officially updated, and we will be fighting for those tickets.
