England has done it again. The Women's Rugby World Cup final took place on home soil over the weekend, with the Red Roses defeating Canada in a 33-13 victory, securing the trophy for the first time since 2014. Back then, there were 20,000 spectators. This weekend, at Allianz Stadium in Twickenham, there were a record 82,000 fans cheering them on, the largest-ever crowd for a women's rugby match.

And the teams really delivered on the crowd-pleasing moments. Star full-back and 2024 World Player of the Year, Ellie Kildunne, brought the audience to their feet by receiving the ball 30 metres out, breaking Canada's defensive line and passing two defenders to slide over at top speed. Teammate Kat Merchant told BBC Radio 5 Live, "She just sliced through like she had an invisible cloak on. Oh my gosh, what a wonder try." With New Zealand World Cup winner and BBC pundit Ruby Tui adding, "The people ordered and Ellie Kildunne delivered. She was audacious with her try. Kildunne and dusted."

With the England team also winning the Women's Football Euros earlier this summer and viewership for the women's games reaching record highs, Mastercard shared some new research that found 43% of young women aged 8-25 have been inspired to try a new sport. On top of this, over a third (37%) would consider trying rugby because of the increased visibility, role models and opportunities now offered at schools.

With all of this celebration, we take a look at some of the best reactions to the Red Roses' incredible win.
