Maisie Wilen Finds the Beauty in the Absurd for FW23

Maisie Wilen is examining digital culture through fashion for its Fall/Winter 2023 collection, nodding to AI imagery with its absurd yet carefully constructed garments.

Founder Maisie Schloss adds a determined element of play to her latest offering, elevating everyday objects through expert design. Deflated soccer balls are stitched together to form a dress, nodding to inevitable glitches, whereas plastic packaging is attached to a form-fitting gown bearing cropped heads and abstract prints. Lorem Ipsum font cleverly covers a crisp button-down shirt and matching shorts, providing a kraft paper tie for extra levity, while a crinkled paper bag is impossibly fashioned into a mini-dress. Elsewhere, a wide sheer skirt, overflowing with ruffles supplies a heavy dose of whimsy, alongside body-con shifts bearing a multitude of skin-baring cut-outs and glittering ruched tops worn with flared pants.

Accessories arrive in the form of leather handbags, covered with shocked faces and exceptionally slouchy boots, joining scrunched heels.
