Chappell Roan is upping her support for the trans youth and LGBTQ+ communities, announcing the launch of a new non-profit initiative dubbed the Midwest Princess Project.

The singer has already raised over $400,000 for the project, with a portion of ticket sales from her sold-out Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things pop-up tour going to selected charities.

One dollar from every ticket sold will be donated to charities providing necessary resources to trans youth, including the Ali Forney Center and The LGBT Center in New York, Trans Wellness Center and TransLatin Coalition in Los Angeles, and The GLO Center and The Center Project in Missouri. Roan has also partnered with Propeller and eBay to build special activations around her shows to help raise money for the Midwest Princess Project’s efforts.

Roan has always been a fierce and vocal advocate for marginalized voices and communities, using her platform to encourage conversations and action when it comes to resources, accessibility and human rights. With the Midwest Princess Project, she continues her efforts to use music as a form of protest and activism, previously partnering with organizations to make her tours eco-friendly, offering her tour staff mental health services on the road and ensuring her fans were able to purchase tickets at fair prices.

Elsewhere, Rina Sawayama called out SNL's cultural insensitivity.
