Petra Collins Opens Her First Gallery Show, 'fangirl'
info@hypebae.com (Hypebae) Mon, 01 Sep 2025 HypebaeFashion's favorite photographer, Petra Collins, just announced her first large-scale solo exhibition at the Daelim Museum in Seoul. Showing over 500 works, 'fangirl' spans her career and offers an in-depth look into the creative journey that has led to her distinctive visual language and gained loyal fans worldwide.
Collins' unique world is characterized by a soft, feminine and dreamlike atmosphere that captures girlhood and the female gaze through a now trademark aesthetic. Shooting since she was 15 and rising to prominence in the early 2010s, she set the stylistic tone for a generation, showcasing life as a young woman in the age of the internet. Credited as one of the artists who led new-wave feminism and a female-first approach to photography, she has shot Vogue covers, campaigns for brands including Gucci and adidas and even walked the runway. The aptly titled show already has us fangirling and revisiting our 2010s Tumblr feeds.
The exhibition features a comprehensive collection of Collins' work, from her early pieces to the most recent projects. It will include photography, video, installation, archival material and editorial projects that give a unique deep-dive into the Collins universe. The show allows visitors to experience her perspective in the stages of her growth as an artist, from her self-taught teenage beginnings to her multifaceted and now global career.
You'll find works such as 'Fairy Tales' fronted by Alexa Demie, stills from Olivia Rodrigo and Selena Gomez music videos, and intimate self-portraits shot in her childhood home. As one of the aesthetic voices of a generation and one of the industry's most beloved image-makers, Collins continues to share her pioneering artistry with 'fangirl'.
The show is now on view until December 31 at the Daelim Museum in Seoul, Korea.
