Made Some Is Here to Fuel Your Vintage Sportswear Obsession

At first glance, Made Some Sportswear may not look like a sportswear brand, but it really does do what the name suggests. The rising label was founded in 2020 by LA-based Creative Director Madelyn Somers to bring a retro-inspired approach to activewear that can also be included in your vacation wardrobe.

It's about time we had some newness in the sportswear department, because skin-tight silhouettes have been holding us hostage for far too long. In fact, according to TikTok, more and more women are actively looking for baggier clothes to wear while working out, either to feel more comfortable or simply feel more themselves, opting for oversized T-shirts and vintage gym shorts instead of monochromatic sets.

A quick search on TikTok and you'll find influencers sharing outfit videos with captions like, "Remembering I have free will and can wear vintage to the gym." Depop queen Isabella Vrana is one of them, sharing her exercise outfits, which include second-hand adidas capris and ballet-inspired wrap tops. Very Sporty Spice. Natalia Spotts is another influencer adding bright colors, baggy graphic tees and quirky retro fits to her gym looks. We could even say the aim is not to look like you're about to work out but instead feature in a Y2K music video.

Somers is making this approach easier to take for those who don't want to rummage through thrift stores, scroll for hours on Depop or simply want something brand new. The brand's sportswear offering features bright colorways like red, blue, yellow and green in both longer and mini shorts silhouettes, with accessories reminiscent of vacation souvenirs, as we've been seeing lots of recently. Inspired by the '70s surf scene and the movie "Blue Crush," the waterproof nylon shorts are perhaps not something you'll run a marathon in, but will support an active lifestyle both on the beach and in the city.
