If you follow the WNBA, you know how... vocal... its fan culture is. In an interview, Minnesota Lynx player Napheesa Collier opened up about a new toxic trend many players have observed.

"It is getting so toxic in our league, just hatred out there towards other players, not just Angel and Caitlin. I feel like we are trending in a bad spot with that," she told the interviewer.

The WNBA fandom has grown, but in some cases, not for the best. A recent Washington Post article explored what it referred to as the league's "toxic atmosphere." Since the start of the 2025 Season, several male influencers and podcasters have hopped on the mic to disparage WNBA players. Men make up over half of the organization's viewership, according to the WNBA. Collier urges fans to be mindful before this trend grows further.

Many fans chimed, in agreeing with her statement. "She is very much on point," one fan tweeted. Another responded, "She is right, but the thing is, you can't really worry about that too much. More hatred means more visibility. Unfortunately, with more visibility, this tends to happen."
