On May 29, industry insider Daniel Richtman sparked rumors that Euphoria favorite -- Hunter Schafer, duh -- was finally being considered for a role as Princess Zelda. If you missed the viral tweets, fans have been begging for Schafer to play the role of Princess Zelda in Nintendo's upcoming live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda. as the resemblance between the actor and the fictional character is quite uncanny.

Well, on July 16, the girls finally received an answer to their wishes.

Unfortunately for Schafer fans, Nintendo has cast a different talented actor, Bo Bragason for the lead role of Zelda. Her partner-in-crime, Link, will be played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth.

Nintendo hasn't shared many other details aside from the film's release date and the production company associated. It's set to launch on March 26, 2027, with Sony Pictures leading the adaptation, according to The Independent. As one fan joked, Nintendo's Zelda updates can never be anticipated as the brand drops "Zelda movie news on a random week day every couple months."

In a 2023 interview, the Euphoria star told Entertainment Tonight, "That would be so cool. I played that video game a bunch when I was a kid. That's such a good game." She continued sharing her excitement, "I've seen another wave of the fan cast and everything, which is just really sweet. I'm honored that they even think of me for that." Schafer has not spoken on the recent casting rumors, however, so stay tuned for updates on Princess Zelda's casting.

In other news, Stranger Things is so back. Elsewhere, here's what we know about the Devil Wears Prada 2.
