As USA Today reported from CinemaCon, "Grande teased that her character has to 'look at her reflection to figure out what it means to be Glinda the Good' – and also shouted out the concession workers at a South Florida Cinemark – while Erivo said Elphaba 'has to learn how to use her powers for the betterment of good in exile.'" Producer Marc Platt added that viewers can expect "more complexity" from both characters, as well.
The cast of Wicked consists of Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard and Ethan Slater as Boq. Wicked Part 1 is slated to premiere on November 21, 2025.
