Netflix To Tell Story of Notorious Con Man in True Crime Documentary, 'Tinder Swindler'

As viewers wait for the premiere of Inventing Anna, Netflix has released the trailer for another original documentary titled Tinder Swindler.

The true-crime title tells the story of a notorious Russian-Israeli con-man named Shimon Hayut, who scammed women he matched with on Tinder. The 31-year-old faked his profile as a billionaire called "Simon Leviev" on the app, asking victims to open lines of credit for him under their names.

Hayut was imprisoned in December 2019 on a 15-month sentence, although he ended up serving only five months. A Finnish woman claimed that she had lost $49,000 USD: "I’m a single mom to a daughter and I gave him all the savings I had. It’s a disgrace that they released him from prison."
