For the first time ever, London's leading contemporary art galleries are coming together for Art+Climate Week, an initiative from Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC) and taking place in parallel with COP30 in Brazil. Aiming to amplify climate action in the arts, the jam-packed schedule is a must for any art lover.
The five-day event presents a rich program of over 25 participants that includes the Tate Modern, Tate Britain, Barbican Art Gallery and Whitechapel Gallery. If you needed more convincing, the events are completely free and open to the public. None of that cliché art-world snobbery here.
The GCC is a network of over 2000 arts organisations and individuals in more than 60 countries, committed to reducing the carbon impact of the visual art sector by 50% by 2030. The five day event includes independent discussions, family workshops, guided tours and activations on the topic of climate and environment. The exhibitions explore diverse perspectives that provoke questions on our relationship with the natural world, and themes relating to power and social change.
The initiative represents an industry-wide acknowledgement of responsibility in driving change through capturing the public's imagination. Amidst a global lack of effort and political resistance surrounding climate issues, the event is taking place to coincide with the UN's global climate summit.
With exhibitions across the city, the event is hosted digitally on gowithYamo's platform so that you can plan out your day and see a visual map of everything that's happening in the busy week. Currently on until November 16, head to the gowithYamo website for the full mapped out schedule.
