Nike and NorBlack NorWhite Blend Indian Heritage With Contemporary Sport
info@hypebae.com (Hypebae) Thu, 12 Jun 2025 HypebaeNike has teamed up with Toronto-born, Bombay-based label NorBlack NorWhite for a collection that celebrates Indian culture and craftsmanship. Unpacking themes of freedom, sport and self-expression, the collection features a vibrant range of apparel, footwear and accessories.
Blending Nike's performance heritage and sportswear silhouettes with cultural emblems, the collaboration brings India's craftsmanship to a global audience.
"Our NorBlack NorWhite journey started with a deep admiration for the crafts practices of India and the people who bring them to life," says Mriga Kapadiya, the brand's cofounder. "This collection shines a light on the rigor, dedication and ancestral knowledge that’s rooted in Indian culture, and we hope each piece inspires women to draw on their own athletic mindset while navigating everyday life in India and around the world."

Co-founder Amrit Kumar adds: "When women wear pieces from our new collection with Nike, we want them to feel comfortable in their own skin, wherever they are in their journey. We want them to feel cool and collected through the colors, and to be ready to take on challenges and build strength and resilience through the patterns. Women who wear these pieces should have fun and own the spectrum of hues, all knowing that we, as women, aren't here to play."
Rooted in the traditional Indian tie-dye technique of "Bandhani," the collection draws inspiration from its intricate patterns and applies them to classic sporting silhouettes. Featuring a hoodie, tank top, cropped T-shirt, and two sports bras, the collection also includes a pair of 5-inch shorts and a three-quarter-length tight. Footwear lands in the form of the Air Max Craze, Motiva, Pegasus 41 and Calm Slide silhouettes.
To celebrate the launch, Nike and NorBlack NorWhite tapped wrestler Anshu Malik, sprinter Priya Mohan and cricketers Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma for its collaboration campaign.
