Tia Adeola just presented her latest collection "From Lagos, With Love" during the Nigerian culture capital's annual GTCO Fashion Weekend. The two-day event hosts some of Nigeria's finest talent in Lagos every year, presenting new collections, networking and giving smaller designers a platform to grow on. This year, Adeola turned the weekend into her very own homecoming, showcasing a collection that was designed with Lagos girls in mind.
The collection is bright, colorful and full of intricate details that are a testament to Adeola's talent. Shrunken polos, lace-up skirts with matching tops, and oversized sequins on dresses arrive in a rainbow of colors, reflecting the bright shades of the city itself. Of course, the brand's signature ruffles take center stage: on dresses, skirts and army green pants.
The influences of Nigerian culture on the collection are most obvious in the stunning beadwork that features on a few of the garments. Tops made entirely out of cowrie shells are some of the most unique pieces in the entire collection, alongside a raffia straw dress for a neutral departure from the primary colors that dominate the rest of the looks. "From Lagos, With Love" also includes Adeola's foray into menswear, taking her design codes and reimagining them on football jerseys, oversized button-downs and breathable linen sets.
The new collection isn't available to purchase yet, but to see more of Tia Adeola's designs and be the first to know when "From Lagos, With Love" drops, visit the brand's website.
