Emily Ratajkowski Says Divorce by 30 Is “Chic”

Model and podcaster Emily Ratajkowski, known for taking over headlines with her dating escapades, drops a word on marriage.

For the girls struggling to get married by 25, questioning social norms or already wrapping their first marriage by 28 -- Emrata has a word for you. "So it seems that a lot of ladies are getting divorced before they turn 30," she said in her TikTok video. Ratajkowski notoriously filed for divorce from her ex-husband Sebastian Bear-McClard in 2022, and dedicated her career to empowering femmes via her podcast High Low with EmRata.

"Being in your 20s is the trenches" she continued on. According to Ratajkowski, it's okay to have "tried that married fantasy and realize that it's maybe not all its cracked up to be." The beauty of it is that "you still got your whole life ahead of you." Ironically, where advice for women usually attracts hateful cis men, the comments garnered a community of men and women encouraging young femmes to reject marriage in their 20s too.

Her advice mirrors the viral dating advice Mia Khalifa shared with a TikTok user. "We should not be afraid to leave these people,” she said at the time. "We are not stuck with these people… it’s a commitment you make to someone but if you feel like you’re not getting anything from that commitment, you gotta go.... This is your fucking life, do you want to be stuck with someone?"
